Table Grape Production Manager

Our client is an internationally recognized grower, packer and exporter of citrus fruit and table grapes. Their farms and packhouses are situated across the Western Cape, with their head office based in Bellville along with their associates based in other provinces.

They currently have a vacancy for a Table Grape Production Manager at their farm outside of Piketberg. The position will report to the area manager and is available immediately.

Responsibilities:

  • Production: Planting of table grapes, scheduling of irrigation, fertilizer application, pest, plague and weed control, pruning, harvesting, monitoring and all manipulations
  • Personnel and administration: Labour planning and management, recordkeeping, transport and accommodation, maintenance (equipment /orchards/general)
  • Financial: Cost control by focusing on productivity

Requirements: 

  • Grade 12 with a relevant tertiary qualification in agriculture
  • At least 5 years’ experience in agriculture production
  • Knowledge of modern production practices
  • Specific knowledge/experience in irrigation practices will be advantageous
  • Good leadership and communication skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office (especially Excel)
