Agronomist

Our client in the Hex River specializes in the cultivation, packaging and export of table grapes and citrus. They currently have an opportunity for a suitably qualified and experienced Agronomist with specialisation in Horticulture to join them.

Duties:

  • Managing the efficient establishment and maintenance of the electronic fertilisation and irrigation system (AgriWiz)
  • Data collection and processing to generate informed and timely recommendations
  • Ongoing maintenance of the fertigation and irrigation electronic system and program
  • Management and development of all citrus and table grapes’ irrigation and fertilisation programmes (500ha)

Requirements:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification (BSc in Botany / Horticulture / Soil Science)
  • A minimum of 4 years’ relevant industry experience
  • Thorough knowledge of fertilization and irrigation practices (experience in ultra-low flow systems will be beneficial)
  • Thorough knowledge around data processing and analysis
  • Above average computing and technical proficiency
  • The ability to work under pressure and apply rational decision-making
  • Good interpersonal relationships and above average communication skills at all levels
  • An energetic, hardworking and self-driven individual with a love for fertilising and irrigating aspects of agriculture
