Communications Officer

Vinpro, situated in Paarl, is the independent organisation that provides specialised services and information to South African wine producers, cellars and wine-related businesses and represents them on various forums. We currently have the following opportunity for a dynamic person to join our team.

 COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER

We are looking for a vibrant communications specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will report to the Vinpro management.

Responsibilities include:

  • Conceptualising and managing all staff communications, including staff newsletters and notifications, events, and staff orientation
  • Events planning and coordination
  • Media liaison and monitoring
  • Managing social media including Instagram, website, Facebook, LinkedIn
  • Attending industry and media functions
  • Networking with people in the wine industry
  • Producing video content for Vinpro branding/marketing purposes
  • Writing of news releases, articles, information pieces and member newsletters
  • Managing corporate survey’s
  • Creating a culture of good communication within the Vinpro group through planned actions and on various channels
  • Designing and packaging content in line with Vinpro communications strategy
  • Liaise with service providers i.e., designers and printers

Requirements:

  • Relevant degree or diploma in Public Relations or Communications
  • 3 years’ experience in a similar role
  • Experience in writing media releases
  • Creative and able to generate new ideas to improve processes and content
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both Afrikaans and English
  • Computer literate (MS Office) with excellent MS Excel skills
  • Strong administrative and project management skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Comfortable to talk in front of a group of people
  • Speech writing for executive and chairperson
  • Strong focus on detail
  • Self-disciplined and well-organised
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Must be able to work independently and take initiative to solve problems
  • Motivated and keen to learn new skills.
