Fleet & Estate Maintenance Manager
Our client is an established apple and pear farming company in the EGVV Area. They require a Fleet & Estate Maintenance Manager for the farming group based in the Elgin area.
A passion for thorough maintenance and a strong work ethic is essential for this position. High-energy, self-motivation and personal integrity with positive “can-do” attitude will be advantageous. These qualities will favour a candidate over his/her qualifications. The position reports to the General Manager.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Managing and co-ordinating the repair, upkeep and maintenance of all owned infrastructure
- Buildings and houses (including electrics and plumbing)
- Roads and drains
- Vehicle fleet (Trucks, bakkies, tractors etc), equipment (Spray machines, bin wagons, mowers etc.) and small machines (weed eaters, tools etc.)
- Pump houses, water pumps and drinking water filters
- Keeping all records and associated administration up to date
- Workshop and estate maintenance team management
- Preparing managing, and tracking maintenance budgets, ensuring that all activities are cost effective and within budgetary constraints
- Engaging with internal teams, including management and other departments, to ensure the smooth operation of maintenance activities
- Overseeing and coordinating external contractors responsible for repairs, ensuring work meets standards and deadlines
Requirements:
- Grade 12 with a relevant qualification
- Knowledge of infrastructure management with 5 years’ experience in a similar position
- Technical understanding of infrastructure maintenance and repair
- Problem-solving and decision-making abilities
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Strong organizational and management skills
- Ability to work independently and manage detail
- Dynamic and innovative team player
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations
- Proven ability to motivate staff, manage teams and communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders
