Irrigation Coordinator

Our client is a producer, packer and exporter of citrus fruit and table grapes, with farms and pack houses in the Western Cape.

The company has a vacancy for an irrigation coordinator at their farm about 10km outside of Piketberg. The position will report to the Area Manager and is available immediately.

Main duties:

  • Collect data (system hydraulics, pressure, evaluation, Ecs, pH, etc)
  • Process, evaluate and communicate data to production Manager
  • Maintain bulk water/ irrigation infrastructure – pumps, filters, etc.
  • Maintain and control HTF room, fertilizer pumps, calibration etc.
  • Monitor the mixing of fertilizer
  • Weekly monitoring of water meter readings (pumps and bore holes)

Requirements:

  • The ideal candidate will be someone with knowledge of crop irrigation and irrigation infrastructure
  • It will also be beneficial if you have experience in the management of irrigation systems, and knowledge of modern production practices and technologically advanced irrigation
  • systems
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office (particularly Excel)
