Management Accountant

Our client, based on the Piketberg mountain, is a primary producer of organic Buchu oil. They produce their own material from cultivated fields, and all distillation is done on the farm. Their Buchu oil is supplied to international flavour and fragrance companies.

They are seeking to appoint a suitable qualified and experienced Management Accountant to join their team. Their farm is situated 150km from Cape Town on the Piketberg mountain.


Main Duties:

  • Responsible for the timely, accurate and complete preparation of the trial balance
  • Responsible for the execution of month-end procedures
  • Reconciliation of intergroup companies’ balances
  • Completion of SARS returns and preparation of the relevant SARS recons
  • Responsible for preparing reports for reporting to management and other forms of reporting as deemed necessary
  • Responsible for the preparation of certain divisions for the financial audit
  • Assistance to the financial manager (reporting, budgets, administrative functions, and other assistance as deemed necessary)
  • Responsible for the preparation of financial statements and conducting administrative functions in respect of the individuals and trusts of the group


  • B.Acc, B.Com or B.Compt degree in financial accounting or similar degree
  • Successful completion of SAICA or SAIPA articles
  • Minimum of 5 years ‘ experience in an accounting position
  • Professional qualification will count in your favour
  • Knowledge and experience in agriculture will count in your favour
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and report high volumes of information with focus on detail and accuracy
  • Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to function independently
  • Ability to give guidance and develop people
  • Systematic and ordered person, who is comfortable functioning within the given framework
  • A good understanding of systems and IT functions and structures will count in your favour
