Oil Plant Production Manager

Our client is a multinational organisation recognized as the avocado experts. A vacancy currently exists at their oil factory in KwaZulu-Natal for a suitably qualified and experienced Production Manager. Reporting to the Operations Manager, the successful incumbent will be responsible for managing the various production processes at the oil plant.

Main duties:

  • Managing production processes and production efficiencies
  • Product quality management
  • Setting up budgets and financial control
  • Product costing e.g. BOM
  • Factory and machinery maintenance
  • People management
  • Basic chemistry or biochemistry background
  • Food safety (HACCP or BRC)
  • Basic health and safety
  • Knowledge of factory and machinery maintenance
  • Oil processing
  • R&D, NPD and/or product/process improvements

Requirements:

  • A three-year degree or national diploma in Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry or Food Science
  • Three years’ experience, preferably in plant oil production
  • Alternatively, three years’ experience in other food production
  • Intermediate computer literacy (Excel, Word, Outlook and ERP systems)
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • The ability to improve and optimize processes
  • The analytical skills that will allow for solving problems systematically
  • Commitment to a high level of accuracy and quality
  • Energy, initiative and drive
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Self-motivated, improvement focused and self-disciplined
