Production Manager (Swellendam)

Our client is a leading grower, packer, and exporter of fresh fruit (citrus, avocados and table grapes) in South Africa. Their production units are situated across the Western Cape, with their head office in Bellville near Cape Town.

The company has a vacancy for a production manager for a citrus and avocado farm in the Buffeljags area, which is near Swellendam. The position will report to the Farm Manager and is available immediately.

A market related total cost to company package is offered with pension fund benefits. Housing is included.

 Responsibilities:

  • Production: Planting of avocados/citrus, Irrigation scheduling, application of fertilizer, pest and plague control, pruning, harvesting, monitoring, all manipulations
  • Personnel and administration: Labor planning and management, Record keeping, Transport and accommodation planning, Maintenance (equipment / orchards/ general)

Requirements:

  • Matric with a relevant tertiary qualification
  • Three years’ experience in the cultivation of citrus or avocados
  • Knowledge of sound production practices
  • Proficiency in MS Office (especially Excel)
  • Good administrative and communication skills
