Production Manager (Swellendam)

Our client is an internationally recognised grower, packer and exporter of citrus fruit and table grapes. Their farms and pack houses are situated across the Western Cape, with our head office in Bellville.

They have a vacancy for a Production Manager at their farm in Buffeljags River, outside Swellendam. This established citrus farm will be supplemented with avocado orchards in future. The position is available immediately and will report to the farm manager.

Responsibilities:

  • Production: Plant citrus/avocados, schedule irrigation, apply fertilizer, pest, plague and weed control, prune, harvest, monitoring, all manipulations
  • Personnel and administration: Labor planning and management, record keeping, plan transport and accommodation, maintenance (equipment / orchards / general)
  • Financial: Cost control by focusing on productivity

Requirements: 

  • Applicants should be post matric with a relevant tertiary qualification in agriculture with at least 10 years’ experience in agriculture production
  • Knowledge of modern production practices
  • Specific knowledge/ experience in irrigation practices will be to your
  • advantage
  • Good leadership and communication skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office (especially Excel)
