Sales and Marketing Manager (Wines)

Our client is an established hotel and vineyard located in Franschhoek. Surrounded by pristine views of the Franschhoek valley the hotel boasts a 26 rooms, two restaurants and production of their own outstanding wines. They are seeking to appoint an experienced and energetic Sales and Marketing Manager to join their team to continue delivering on their unique guest experience.

 Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Management of both national and international marketing and sales
  • Develop a marketing and sales plan in line with the Company’s goals and objectives
  • Forecast sales and stock levels in line with production
  • Identify and establish sales territories, quotas and targets and align distribution accordingly
  • Establish and maintain relationships with clients, negotiating the terms and conditions of sales contracts
  • Assist sales agents with negotiation of trading terms and securing listings
  • Create clear expectations for external sales agents, monitor progress and manage performance accordingly
  • Optimize logistics of distribution in a streamlined and cost-effective manner
  • Arrange and facilitate sales meetings, presentations of products and training sessions with both external sales agents, team members and clients
  • Monitor income, expenditure, client base and sales in line with budget
  • Coordinate and manage wine shows, festivals and all relevant wine trading platforms, including hosting of site inspections, wine evenings etc.
  • Generate monthly sales reports indicating sales volumes, potential clients and forecasts
  • Relevant administration

Qualifications / Experience

  • Relevant Sales and Marketing qualification with 5 years of sales or key account management experience in a wine-related business
  • Comprehensive understanding of wine with a WSET or Cape Wine Academy qualification being an advantage
  • Knowledge of entire value chain especially that of route to market
  • Sales-orientated with strong negotiation skills
  • Excellent inter-personal, networking and presentation skills
  • Results-orientated with a commitment to excellence
  • Attention to detail with a proactive approach to problem solving
  • Pride, passion and a commitment towards the success of the company
  • Strong planning and organizational skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure
  • Command of the Afrikaans and English language, both written and verbal
  • Excellent personal presentation
  • Team player with the ability to work independently
  • Valid driver’s license and passenger driving permit (advantageous)
  • Flexibility and willingness to travel
