Senior Commercial Manager

Our client is a completely integrated international fruit breeder, producer, and exporter. They are currently seeking a Senior Commercial Manager to join their team.

The primary function of this role is to sell/market stone fruit and blueberries in the EU and UK markets, whilst managing client relationships and programs in order to ensure the best possible return for their growers and profit margin for their company. This position will work closely with the Logistics, Technical and Trade Finance departments to ensure efficient and best practice service to their clients and will be based in Paarl at the United Exports Office.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Confirm and manage seasonal marketing plans with various clients, within the perimeters of meeting the business objectives of key customers
  • Facilitate the selling of fruit to customers in the correct market segments, at the set price and at the required rate of sale
  • Manage stock, in order to meet client orders
  • Provide regular feedback to clients regarding information on their orders
  • Asses if claims received is viable and process accordingly
  • Daily manage client relationships
  • Act as the primary contact for growers and handle all queries regarding their fruit, the markets and/or our business in a timeous and tactful manner
  • Develop new market opportunities in line with the business strategy

Requirements:

  • B. Comm Degree with a Marketing/Logistics/International Trade major or similar degree
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar position
  • An understanding of the retail and/or agricultural industries
  • Fruit marketing knowledge and some degree of product knowledge
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent planning and coordination skills
  • Strong time management skills and deadline driven
  • Strong administration skills and attention to detail
  • Building and maintaining good client relationships
  • Intermediate computer literacy: MS Office (Word, Excel and Outlook)
  • A valid driver’s license and ability to travel
