Service Technician (Grading and sorting equipment)

Our client is a leading manufacturer and distributor of high quality small and large-scale fruit and vegetable grading and sorting equipment. They are seeking to appoint a suitably qualified and experienced Millwright/Electro-mechanical technician to join their team. This position is based in the Boland but requires frequent travelling in the Western Cape.

Main duties:

  • Installations (national and international)
  • General inspection and reporting (all equipment)
  • Service of equipment
  • Preventive maintenance on equipment
  • Planning spare parts for preventive maintenance
  • Call-outs for repairs
  • Work planning and preparation
  • Worksheets and reporting
  • Telephonic assistance / call-outs (24 hours a day)
  • Client liaison and planning of own availability
  • Spare parts and management of spare parts
  • Responsibility for the correct delivery of spare parts to customers and follow-up thereof
  • Responsible for executing work in a safe manner
  • Responsible for the safe-keeping of tools and company vehicle
  • Groundwork with potential customers
  • Involved in Workshop “fitting” when not on call or busy with installations

Minimum requirements:

  • Grade 12
  • Qualified electro-mechanical technician or similar
  • 3-5 years’ experience in fault-finding electrical and mechanical equipment
  • Knowledge and experience of installing conveyors and grading/sorting machines
  • Electrical knowledge and troubleshooting experience
  • Strong work ethic
  • Computer literate
  • Self-motivated
  • Bilingual
  • Valid driver’s license
