Trader

Our client is an established name in the table grape and vegetable industry with their primary operations based in Namibia. They have recently opened up their marketing division in Klapmuts in the Western Cape and is seeking to appoint a suitably qualified individual as their Trader. This position reports directly to the Managing Director.

The main purpose of this position is the planning, coordinating and international shipment of goods. The position further requires negotiations with a variety of people, shippers, agents, producers and clients.

Main duties: 

  • Responsible for managing packing plans within the various categories (Volumes, deliveries according to specs, margins, contract formulation and execution, and cost price calculations)
  • Help with the formulation of the sales budgets for the category
  • Ensures optimal customer satisfaction
  • Responsible for handling of commercial issues/complaints
  • Suggesting new trade opportunities and product development
  • Keeping track of international market developments
  • Building supply-base relations

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree or relevant qualification in Commerce/Marketing
  • At least 3-5 years’ marketing experience in the fruit industry
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Effective contract negotiation skills
  • Awareness of relevant prevailing quality and food safety regulations
  • Ability to solve challenging problems
  • Being able to prioritize, meet deadlines and work with minimal direction
  • Ability to perform well under pressure
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • A “global” mind set, result driven, attention to detail and a team player
  • Willingness to travel local and internationally
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office programs
