Irrigation Champion (Piketberg)
Our client is a producer, packer and exporter of citrus fruit and table grapes, with farms and pack houses in the Western Cape.
The company has a vacancy for an Irrigation Champion at their farm about 10km outside of Piketberg.
The position will report to the area manager and is available immediately.
A market related total cost to company package is offered with pension fund benefits.
Responsibilities include:
- Collect data (system hydraulics, pressure, evaluation, Ecs, pH, etc)
- Process, evaluate and communicate data to production manager
- Maintain bulk water/irrigation infrastructure – pumps, filters, etc.
- Maintain and control HTF room, fertilizer pumps, calibration etc.
- Monitor the mixing of fertilizer
- Weekly monitoring of water meter readings (pumps and bore holes)
Requirements:
- Grade 12
- Some knowledge of crop irrigation infrastructure
- Experience in the management of irrigation systems and knowledge of modern production practices and technologically advanced irrigation systems will be beneficial
- Proficient in MS Office, especially MS Excel
