Workshop Technician
Our client, an established apple and pear farming company in the EGVV area, requires a Workshop Technician for the farming group based in the ELGIN area.
A passion for proper maintenance and a strong work ethic is essential for this position. High-energy, self-motivated and personal integrity with positive “can-do” attitude will be advantageous. These qualities will favour a candidate over his/her qualifications. The position reports to the Estate and Vehicle Maintenance Manager.
A permanent position with a competitive salary is offered.
Duties include, but not limited to:
- Repairs and maintenance of owned vehicles and equipment
- Tractors, forklifts
- Spray machines and implements
- Trucks and Bakkies
- Welding repairs as well as construction of gates etc
- Keep all records and associated administration up to date
- Workshop area management
- Assist with repairs to major irrigation infrastructure
- Engage with internal teams, including management and other departments, to ensure the smooth operation of maintenance activities
- Oversee and coordinate external contractors responsible for repairs, ensuring work meets standards and deadlines
Requirements:
- Relevant qualifications will be advantageous
- Experienced diesel mechanic and welder
- Valid driver’s license Code 10 or Code 14 PrDP and Heavy Goods Vehicle driving will be advantageous
- Problem-solving and decision-making abilities
- Excellent communication, Dynamic and innovative team player
- Must be prepared to work overtime when necessary
- Ability to work independently and manage detail and cleanliness
