Technical Manager (Fresh Produce)

Our client in the fruit industry is seeking the full-time services of a suitably qualified and experienced Technical Manager for their exports & local operations in table grapes, pomegranates, stone fruit and citrus. This position is based at the offices in Stellenbosch and requires regular local and international traveling.

Duties:

  • Provide support to producers by providing expert advice on soil-, plant- & pest control, the product and new farming technology
  • Teamwork and collaboration with the marketing-, logistics- and financial departments
  • Technical administration includes:
    • PPP Lists / MRL monitoring
    • Producer- and Company Audits (GlobalGap, Siza, IFS etc.)
    • New cultivar monitoring

Requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture (viticulture, horticulture or soil science)
  • At least 5 years’ experience in a similar position
  • Strong administrative-, communication- & interpersonal skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Applications (Outlook ; Excel & PowerPoint)
  • Passion for sustainable and productive agricultural practices
  • Willingness to travel to producers, pack house and other related stakeholders within the value chain
