Fruit Packhouse Logistics Manager

Our client is a vertically integrated company that has developed a unique and diversified footprint in both subtropical and deciduous commodities. With a global commercial reach, the company supports its own production while collaborating closely with producers to build sustainable supply channels. They offer a preferred solution for the supply of fresh fruit, locally and internationally, to discerning customers.

Based in Piketberg, they are seeking a highly experienced and driven Logistics Manager to join their dynamic pome fruit packhouse team. This is a senior, fulltime position suited to a professional with strong leadership, export market knowledge, and technical expertise in packhouse systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage logistics operations within a pome fruit packhouse
  • Oversee grape and citrus cooling processes
  • Liaise daily with grape farms regarding delivery estimates
  • Handle delivery deviations and manage related claims
  • Weekly reporting to Finance (cooling totals for invoicing)
  • Manage contracts for grape and citrus exporters
  • Oversee registrations for export markets
  • Ensure full compliance with food safety standards: BRC, HACCP, and SIZA
  • Maintain packing material stock control using Pastel bookkeeping
  • Lead and manage logistics personnel (scanners, admin staff, forklift drivers, general workers)
  • Work closely with the General Manager on budgets and operational planning
  • Operate and manage systems including: Vitrax (including integration with Maf Roda pre-sorter)

Requirements:

  • Minimum 8 years’ experience in logistics within a fruit packhouse environment
  • Proven experience in pome fruit operations, with knowledge of grape and citrus cooling Fully bilingual (Afrikaans & English)
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Strong financial reporting and budgeting exposure
  • Thorough understanding of export registrations and compliance standards
  • Experience with Vitrax system and Maf Roda integration
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel (advanced level – Pivot Tables essential) and Microsoft Word
  • Willingness to work overtime during peak season

 

Preferred Start Date: 01 June 2026
