Production Manager

Our client is a leading grower, packer and exporter of fresh fruit (citrus and table grapes) in South Africa. Their production units are situated across the Western Cape, with their Head Office in Bellville near Cape Town. The company has a vacancy for a citrus production manager at their citrus farm 13km north of Clanwilliam in the Olifants River Valley. The position will report to the Farm Manager and is available immediately.

Responsibilities:

• Production
  • Planting of citrus
  • Irrigation scheduling
  • Application of fertilizer
  • Pest and plague control
  • Weed control
  • Pruning
  • Harvesting
  • Monitoring
  • All manipulations
• Personnel and administration
  • Labor planning and management
  • Record keeping
  • Transport and accommodation planning
  • Maintenance (equipment/orchards/general)
• Financial
  • Cost control by focusing on productivity
  • Any other related duty that might be required from time to time

Requirements:

• Matric with a tertiary qualification in agriculture
• Four years’ experience in the cultivation of citrus
• Experience in table grape cultivation will be beneficial
• Knowledge of production practices
• Proficiency in MS Office (especially Excel)
• Driver’s license
• Administrative and communication skills
