Olive Farm Manager

Our client, situated in the Paarl area, is one of South Africa’s largest olive oil producers. They are seeking to appoint a Farm manager to manage the olive farm in all aspects to produce maximum olive growth and oil production.

Duties:

  • Grove Management:
    • Cultivation
    • Chemical Pest Control
    • Fertilizer programme
    • Pruning
    • Irrigation
    • Harvesting
  • Development of new groves
  • Maintenance of farm vehicles, tractors and equipment
  • General farm maintenance and development
  • Management of staff
  • Record keeping, i.e. Pest control, Orchard maintenance
  • Communication to management
  • Motivate and promote general well-being amongst the work force
  • Facilitate disciplinary hearings with staff, divisional managers and lawyers

Requirements:

  • Grade 12 with at least 5 years’ experience as Farm Manager (an Agricultural qualification would be advantageous)
  • Experience in Olive oil processing would be advantageous
  • Knowledge and experience of Business Management
  • Strong leadership abilities
  • Ability to manage and motivate teams
  • Communication skills – English (read, speak, write), Afrikaans (read, speak, write)
  • Computer Literate (MS Office)
