Production Assistant (Piketberg)

Our client is a producer, packer and exporter of citrus fruit and table grapes, with farms and pack houses in the Western Cape. The company has a vacancy for a Production Assistant at their farm about 10km outside of Piketberg. The position will report to the Production Manager and is available immediately. A market related total cost to company package is offered with pension fund benefits.

Responsibilities:

  • Production: irrigation scheduling, application of fertilizer, pest and plague control, weed control, planting of citrus and vineyards, pruning
  • Personnel and administration: labour planning, record keeping
  • Financial: cost control by focusing on productivity, budget management
  • Any other related duty that might be required of you from time to time

Requirements:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification in agriculture
  • Minimum three years knowledge of table grape and/or citrus production practices such as pest control, pruning and harvesting.
  • Experience in the handling of teams of workers
  • Computer literate
  • Knowledge of irrigation systems will be to your advantage

A market related total cost to company package is offered with pension fund benefits.
