Sales Manager (Fruit Industry)
Our client is an agri-business that specialises in the growing, packing and marketing of apples and pears of approximately 8 million cartons to retailers, traders and wholesalers around the globe annually.
Reporting to the Commercial Manager; this career opportunity is available to a competent and highly motivated individual who will join their fast-paced and vibrant marketing team in their Commercial Division at their Somerset West office. This person will be responsible for sales and customer relations in South Africa and defined export destinations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Service customer programs and orders with daily and weekly fruit availability
- Nurture and enhance existing customer relations through service delivery excellence
- Develop new market segments and acquire new customers
- Set benchmark pricing in line with the sales strategy
- Collaborate closely with other sales managers, product managers and the commercial manager to formulate strategy, tactics and sales planning
- Collaborate closely and professionally with pack houses and the supply chain department
- Oversee the sales administration function including credit insurance, account sale reconciliations, loading instructions, invoicing, claims and debtors’ control
Requirements:
- Grade 12 with a relevant degree/diploma in Commerce
- At least 5 years’ experience in the marketing of perishable produce to domestic or international markets
- Excellent fruit marketing and sales knowledge
- A broad understanding fresh produce export processes, administration, and sales accounting
- Tactical decision making
- Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills
- Negotiation skills
- Collaboration and teamwork
- Managerial and people management skills
