Our client, Kanonkop Wine Estate, is situated at the foot of the Simonsberg in die Stellenbosch region and currently has the following career opportunity available:
Junior Winemaker
We would like to hear from candidates who hold a tertiary qualification in Viniculture and Viticulture with 2-4 years’ experience in a similar position. Further requirements are:
• Knowledge of wine and the blending thereof • Own transport • Willingness to work longer hours/overtime, when required • Ability to work well in a team • A dedication to craft quality wines that provide value to our customers. Experience in both the practical and technical aspects of the winemaking process will be an advantage.
Reporting to the Cellar Master, you will be involved in all winemaking processes – from the vineyard to the bottle – and will contribute to the continuous improvement of the winemaking process and procedures. Specific responsibilities entail: • Coordination of harvest activities • Aftercare, blending and stabilisation of wine • Inventory control and cellar hygiene • Assist in supervising winery operations in relation to wine quality • Supervising, training and mentoring all cellar employees during harvest • Conduct and manage experiments, including reporting of results in relation to wine quality.
