Production Manager

Our client, Desert Fruit (Pty) Ltd is a Namibian company with the objective to produce, grow and pack high-value dates for the international market. Their business operations are located on the banks of the Orange River that demarcates the border between South Africa and Namibia. The closest town is Ariamsvlei and Upington is a two-hour drive from the farm.

They are looking to appoint a suitably qualified and experienced Production Manager to perform the following duties:

  • Production management (technical) and planning
  • Management of staff
  • Irrigation management
  • Chemical program management
  • Fertiliser programme management
  • Cost and budget management
  • Quality Management
  • Management of systems and administration
  • New capital and orchard development

Requirements:

  • BSc. Degree or relevant tertiary qualification
  • At least 5 years’ horticultural experience
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Experience of date production is preferential, but not a prerequisite
  • Fluent in Afrikaans / English
  • Effective communication skills
  • Organizational and planning ability with strong administrative skills
  • Able to work independently and take initiative
  • Able to perform under pressure
  • Advanced computer literacy
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • High energy levels
