Chief Executive Officer

Our client, Roodezandt (RF) (Pty) Ltd, is an amalgamation between the Roodezandt and McGregor Co-operative Wineries where both has a proud heritage in the wine industry.

They are looking to appoint a suitably qualified and experienced professional as their Chief Executive Officer.

The focus areas of the position include aspects typically covered by an executive, such as the profitability of the shareholders’ respective individual business interests as well as those of the company/cellar, cost management and productivity norms.

Furthermore, the Executive Officer will support the Board with specific aspects of the cellar operations in accordance with the strategic plan, as well as coordination of the operating and capital budgets. The coordination of new development and strategic projects and business development is included.

Main duties include:

  • Increasing long-term shareholder value
  • Developing, in collaboration with the board, a sustainable business plan and the implementation thereof
  • Ensuring effective management of the company’s strategy through business planning and project implementation
  • Financial and cost management / analyses
  • Capital spending/projects
  • Ensuring regulatory compliance
  • Responsible for developing the image of the cellar
  • Overall management of the marketing strategy
  • Establishing and developing relationships with key cellar / company interest groups
  • Human resource management / development
  • Product development
  • Business development, including the expansion of existing markets and establishment of new markets
  • Productivity/efficiency measurements/information systems
  • Infrastructure/capacity planning

Requirements:

  • B.Comm / B.Acc Honours degree (preferably having completed SAICA Articles)
  • At least 8 years’ experience in general management of various business disciplines
  • Strong analytical skills with a sound understanding of commercial agriculture
  • Must be a strategic thinker and results-orientated
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to work with a dynamic team
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Conflict management skills
