Technical Services Manager

Our client is one of the oldest fruit and wine farms in South Africa. They pride themselves on their purpose of creating a sustainable business that ensures the conservation of the environment, providing gainful employment to their employees and creating a positive impact for their surrounding communities.

They are currently looking for a suitably qualified and experienced individual to appoint as their Technical Services Manager.

Reporting to the Estate Manager, the incumbent will be responsible for all technical services on the estate.

Main Duties include but are not limited to the following:

  • Ensure that pump houses and the water reticulation system for drinking water are maintained
  • Oversee the maintenance of electrical supply
  • Analyse the use of electricity and propose methods to reduce usage
  • Maintenance of existing sewage systems and /or advise on the maintenance thereof
  • Oversee the maintenance programme of the fibre system
  • Planned maintenance of all roads and erosion control along the roads on the estate
  • Risk and financial management
  • Develop a budget for the technical services
  • Preventative maintenance:
    • Implement preventative maintenance plans for various technical services on the estate which includes, but are not limited to water reticulation, electrical reticulation, sewage systems, fibre, vehicle maintenance and road maintenance.

Requirements:

  • A Technical degree or Diploma
  • At least 8 years’ experience in Technical or Facilities Management in an Estates and Hospitality environment
  • Particular expertise in plant equipment, water treatment and water distribution is desirable
  • Broad knowledge across mechanical, electrical and general maintenance engineering and plant/site control systems
  • Supervisory management experience
  • A good understanding of the role of a Facilities Management Service provider and the standards required for maintenance and repair services
  • Good awareness of Health & Safety issues and the need for safe methods of working
  • Ability to communicate effectively with residents, contractors and staff at all levels
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
