Farm Manager: Fruit Production

Our client, an established apple and pear farming company in the EGVV area, requires an energetic Farm Manager for its 55 ha of orchards on 2 farms near Villiersdorp.

A passion for fruit farming and a strong work ethic is essential for this position. Self-drive and personal integrity with the ability for continuous development and improvement will be important. These qualities will favor a candidate over his/her qualifications. The position reports to the General Manager.

A permanent position with a competitive salary and housing is offered.

Responsibilities:

  • Managing all facets of the production of pome fruit with emphasis on quality and implementation of best farming practices
  • Building motivated teams to ensure production efficiency
  • Irrigation management (35 ha of micro +20 ha of drip)
  • Area Administration and record keeping

Requirements:

  • Relevant agricultural qualification
  • Knowledge and experience of Pome fruit production as well as 5 years’ experience in a similar position
  • Strong organizational and labour management skills
  • The ability to communicate effectively on all levels
  • Ability to work independently and manage detail
  • Dynamic and innovative team player
  • Basic computer literacy and email
