Citrus Production Managers

Our client is an internationally recognized grower, packer and exporter of citrus fruit and table grapes. Their farms and packhouses are situated across the Western Cape, with their head office based in Bellville along with their associates based in other provinces.

They have three entry-level Citrus Production Manager vacancies available in the Clanwilliam, Swellendam and Piketberg regions, where the incumbent will report to the relevant general manager of the area.

Responsibilities:

  • Production:
    • Planting of citrus
    • Scheduling irrigation, application of fertilizer, pest and weed control
    • Pruning, harvesting, monitoring and all manipulations
  • Personnel and Administration:
    • Labour planning and management
    • Recordkeeping
    • Planning of transport and accommodation
    • Maintenance of orchards and equipment, including general maintenance
  • Financial:
    • Cost control by focusing on productivity

 Requirements:

  • Grade 12 with a relevant tertiary qualification in agriculture
  • At least 4 years’ experience in the cultivation of citrus
  • Knowledge of modern production practices
  • Specialised knowledge and experience in irrigation practices will be to your advantage
  • Good leadership and communication skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office (especially Excel)
  • A valid driver’s license
