Communications Officer

South Africa Wine, situated in Paarl, is an independent organisation that provides specialised services and information to the South African wine industry and represents them on various forums. We currently have the following opportunity for a dynamic person to join our Media & Communications team.

 We are looking for a vibrant communications officer to join our team at SA Wine Media & Communications. The successful candidate will report to the Brand & Communications Manager at South Africa Wine.

 Responsibilities include:

  • Conceptualising and managing all staff communications, including newsletters, social media and notifications, events and staff orientation
  • Events planning and coordination
  • Ad hoc design of corporate collateral including traditional, social and multimedia
  • Help manage digital presence including website and social media
  • Attending industry and media functions
  • Networking with people in wine industry
  • Copy writing
  • Creating a culture of good communication within SA Wine through planned actions and on various channels

Requirements:

  • Relevant degree or diploma in Public Relations, Marketing or Communications
  • 3 years’ experience in a similar role
  • Creative and able to generate new ideas to improve processes and content
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both Afrikaans and English
  • Computer literate: MS Office, design software (Adobe Suite, Canva or similar) and video editing experience
  • Strong administrative and project management skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Strong focus on detail
  • Self-disciplined and well-organised
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Must be able to work independently and take initiative to solve problems
  • Motivated and keen to learn new skills
