Vineyard Consultant – Coastal Region

 

Our client, Vinpro, situated in Paarl, is the independent service organisation that provides specialised services to South African wine producers and represents them on various forums. They are seeking to appoint a Vineyard Consultant to assume duties as soon as possible.

The position entails rendering a wide range of specialist services to wine producers in Stellenbosch, Somerset West, Grabouw, Constantia, Durbanville, and the Cape South Coast areas. The main duties include:

  • Advising on all facets of viticulture such as cultivars/rootstocks, fertilisation, irrigation, pruning, canopy management and maturity monitoring
  • Managing technology transfer projects (information days and study groups)
  • Providing support and mentorship to junior viticulturists/vineyard managers in the region
  • Initiating and being involved in regional projects.

The ideal candidate will be in possession of:

  • A BSc degree with Viticulture/Oenology/Horticulture as majors or a relevant qualification with at least 8 years’ experience
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to appear before audiences
  • IT skills
  • Training and/or experience in agricultural extension
