This role encompasses oversight of the financial operations within their thriving farming and property businesses. Reporting directly to the Group Chief Financial Officer, General Manager of Property, and General Manager of Farming, the successful candidate will take on a diverse range of responsibilities:
- Financial Planning and Analysis: Conduct in-depth financial analysis and risk assessments to identify opportunities for optimizing costs and enhancing revenue streams.
- Budgeting and Forecasting: Lead and closely monitor the annual budgeting process, collaborating with department heads to develop comprehensive budgets that align with organizational goals.
- Financial Reporting: Oversee the accurate and timely preparation of financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
- Cash Flow Management: Ensure the organization’s financial stability by diligently monitoring cash flow, cash reserves, and liquidity at both group and business levels.
- Financial Compliance and Risk Management: Manage financial audits and liaise with external auditors to ensure smooth and successful audit outcomes.
- Financial Strategy and Decision Support: Provide invaluable financial insights and analysis to support strategic decision-making and drive business development initiatives.
- Team Leadership and Development: Lead and inspire a small farming and property finance team, fostering professional growth and a collaborative work environment.
- Treasury and Banking Relations: Interface with the treasury function to facilitate seamless financial transactions.
- Asset and Liability Management: Oversee asset and liability portfolios, ensuring prudent financial management across the organization.
- Stakeholder Communication: Engage in effective communication with key stakeholders, fostering transparency and trust.
In addition to the above responsibilities, the Senior Financial Manager will be involved in all other tasks pertinent to this position.
Requirements:
- A recognised accounting qualification, e.g., – CA (SA,) or SAIPA, CIMA ACCA accreditation is essential.
- Employment Equity candidate is advantageous
- At least 5 years’ experience in a similar position within the farming industry
- Experience in property is advantageous
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Advanced Excel with a detailed knowledge of financial modelling, pivot tables, finance formula etc.
- Experience with Power BI as a reporting and dashboard tool
- ERP Accounting systems experience (Microsoft Dynamics NAV preferred)
- Highly organized and detail-oriented with strong financial acumen and excellent time management skills
- Excellent administrative skills
