Regional Accountant (Swellendam)
Our client is an internationally recognized grower, packer and exporter of citrus fruit and table grapes. Their farms and packhouses are situated across the Western Cape, with their head office based in Bellville along with their associates based in other provinces.
They have a vacancy for a regional accountant in Swellendam who will be employed at their business units (farms and pack house) in the area. This is an office-based position, and it is expected of the ideal candidate to work at their offices in Swellendam

Responsibilities:
- Understand and interpret management accounts
- Manage inventory, assets and capital expenditure within the stipulated framework and policy
- Participate in the preparation of annual budgets and quarterly projections
- Participate in the annual audit process and handling of audit related inquiries
- Ensure that internal control measures are implemented and maintained correctly
- Provide support function to group IT and BI departments
- Ensure implementation of SOP’s and effectiveness of way of workings
- Provide support and assistance to business units’ management teams with administration and financial related matters
- Actively assist head office with evaluation and upgrade of administration and financial systems at business units
- Provide support function to HR department (specifically wages and preparation of salary information)
Requirements:
- Relevant tertiary education (suitable degree/diploma)
- Minimum of 8 years’ accounting experience
- Experience in cost and management accounts will be to your advantage
- Must be able prepare financial information up to trial balance
- Experience with regards to statutory requirements of companies and trusts will be to your advantage
- Proficiency in MS Office (especially Excel) & accounting package
- Agriculture industry experience will be to your advantage
- Must be able to work as part of a team
- Must be deadline driven
- Be willing to travel from time to time
