Accountant (Piketberg)

Our client, based on the Piketberg mountain, is a primary producer of organic Buchu oil. They produce their own material from cultivated fields, and all distillation is done on the farm. Their Buchu oil is supplied to international flavour and fragrance companies.

They are seeking to appoint a suitable qualified and experienced Accountant to join their team. Their farm is situated 150km from Cape Town on the Piketberg mountain.  

Main Duties:

  • Accounting functions up to trial balance including processing of bank statements, bank reconciliations and journals, all payments and processing
  • Debtor’s functions:
    • reconciliation of debtor accounts and dealing with queries
  • Creditor’s functions:
    • responsible for the full creditors function including general ledger transactions
  • Monthly internal auditing:
    • Petty Cash reconciliation, wages reconciliation, general ledger account reconciliation
  • Salaries and wages:
    • the management of all monthly deductions, management of all salary employee’s leave forms and balances
  • Monthly VAT calculations and submission
  • Annual Compensation Commissioner calculations, assessment, and regulation of the payments
  • All reconciliations for the annual audit and assistance with queries

Requirements:

  • Comm degree with at least 3-5 years’ of relevant experience in a similar position
  • Experience in the agricultural sector will count in the candidate’s favour
  • Accuracy and detail-oriented approach
  • Excellent people skills for liaison with clients and suppliers
  • Ability to cope with challenges and problems
  • Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
  • Good performance in a pressured working environment
  • Good language skills in English and Afrikaans
  • Excellent computer skills
