Citrus Key Account Manager

An international citrus company is seeking a Key Account Manager to join their operation. The purpose of this position will be to expand the fresh fruit sourcing footprint of our client in the north and obtain bigger volumes than what they currently have.

This position will be based in the north of South Africa in the citrus growing regions of Mpumalanga or Limpopo.

This position will be responsible for the procurement of fresh citrus fruit procured from growers in South Africa and then exported to customers across the world.

The incumbent must have intimate knowledge of the citrus growing business, know the producers in the area and understand the culture and ways of working very well.

The successful candidate must have the following:

  • Grade 12, however a tertiary qualification will be advantageous
  • At least 5 years’ experience in the citrus industry
  • Sound knowledge of citrus quality processes and systems
  • Sound knowledge of citrus pack house processes and systems
  • Basic understanding of citrus farming processes
  • Good communication skills, being able to communicate with people from all walks of life
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Computer literate
  • Fluent in English and in Afrikaans
  • Be able to work on his or her own as they will not be based close to a company office.
  • Valid drivers licence
