Production Manager

Our client is a producer and exporter of table grapes. They currently have an opportunity for a suitably qualified and experienced individual to join them as a Production Manager. This specific production unit is in the Porterville area. The Production Manager will report to the Senior Production Manager and will be responsible for the following:

  • Production management (technical) and planning
  • Personnel management
  • Irrigation management
  • Chemical program management
  • Fertilization program management
  • Cost and budget management
  • Maintenance and management of buildings, equipment and implements
  • Quality management
  • Management of systems and administration
  • Environmental management
  • New capital and orchard development

Requirements: 

  • A tertiary qualification in Agriculture
  • At least 5 – 8 years of experience in primary fruit production
  • Experience in the establishment and cultivation of citrus and table grapes on a large scale
  • Knowledge of the technical, financial and economic aspects of farm management
  • Organizational, administrative and management skills
  • Strong planning ability
  • Good interpersonal relations and people management people management skills
  • Ability to manage and motivate staff so that goals can be achieved
  • A passion for the work environment, with the necessary drive and experience to manage a business
  • Proficiency in isiXhosa will be advantageous
