HAVE YOUR SAY: Has your business been targeted by Department of Labour Inspectors?
NEASA has launched a survey inviting employers to share whether their businesses have been subjected to unlawful inspections by the Department of Employment and Labour. This follows a controversial incident at Normandien Farms in KwaZulu-Natal, where inspectors—accompanied by MPs, Home Affairs officials, union representatives, and armed police—allegedly forced entry, ignored biosecurity protocols, and verbally abused staff. NEASA condemns the inspection as an abuse of power and is gathering employer experiences to assess how widespread such practices are, aiming to strengthen its advocacy for fair treatment of businesses.
